On August 23, Ukraine’s National Flag Day, “Sprava Hromad” held its 45th charity lottery—and it’s very symbolic to raffle off Ukrainian flags as prizes on Flag Day. But let’s take it one step at a time.
Lottery participants purchased 12,716 tickets—which means that Our lottery raised 1,271,600 hryvnias to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine! That’s the most important thing, and it’s the reason we hold lotteries and, in general, the reason “Community Affairs” exists.
What other lottery results are there?
First of all, we have five winners who won The Ukrainian flag with Petro Poroshenko's signature:
- Ticket 9977 — Mr. Dmytro from Kyiv
- Ticket 14166 — Mr. Maksym from the city of Obukhiv
- Ticket No. 10984 — Mr. Serhiy from Izyum
- Ticket 260 — Ms. Maria and Thomas the Cat from Odessa
- Ticket No. 3982 — Ms. Hanna from the city of Sumy
As you can see, the results are really impressive—there’s gender balance here, and the winners come from a variety of places—it’s not just Kyiv winning—and most importantly, Thomas the cat from Odesa ended up among the winners completely by chance; he’s a personal acquaintance of Volodymyr Zavgorodniy, the press secretary for “Community Affairs,” since it was he (Zavgorodniy) who once picked him (the cat) up off the street—sick and miserable—nursed him back to health, and found him a new “cat mom,” Masha, in Odesa, and now they live there happily together and help the Armed Forces of Ukraine through “Community Affairs”—and so, as you can see, they were lucky enough to win a prize, because Fortune favors those who help cats—both those in the Armed Forces and their four-legged friends.
Let's get back to the prizes.
- Gift Box from “Solidarity Youth” With a thermos, a T-shirt, and a notebook autographed by Poroshenko, the winner—ticket number 10044—is Ms. Maria from Kyiv
And, as you may recall, we also had a super prize and a super-super prize — a commemorative coin from the fifth President, which we promised to raffle off among the most generous donors, and a plaque of appreciation, which was to go to the most generous of the generous.
So, the owner is souvenir coin Mykhailo from Ivano-Frankivsk, one of the top 10 most generous donors to this lottery, has won. Congratulations to Mykhailo—his prize is already on its way to him.
Finally, the future owner a personalized plaque of appreciation from Petro Poroshenko Mr. Maksym from Obukhiv, who joined our raffle at the last minute with a donation of 251,000 hryvnias, took first place among the most generous donors. The plaque isn’t on its way to Mr. Maksym just yet, since his name still needs to be engraved on it—but soon, in a few days, or a week at most, the prize will be sent to Mr. Maksym, whom we also congratulate.
But the real winners of our lottery-auction are the Armed Forces of Ukraine, whom we’re helping together with you. We’re grateful to everyone who took part in the lottery; thank you for helping the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and thank you for trusting “Sprava Hromad.” In just one week, your donations will be turned into photos documenting the delivery of aid to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We’ll keep working, and—Happy Flag Day to all of you, and Happy Independence Day!
