"I don't like stoves, really."
August 27, 2022

Why are these stoves called bourgeois stoves? Because it so happened that bourgeois people, i.e. city dwellers, originally had them and they were an element of modernity and comfort.
However, over time, they lost their inherent features of modernity.
You couldn't write about them better than Yuri Biryukov did.

"I don't like stoves, really. The smoke from a stove is somehow specific, special, instantly recognizable. It smells like fatigue, broken houses, the remains of some furniture. Yes, the stove is warm, it's dried boots, it's a heated kettle. But the smell... the stove smells like war. I don't like stoves. But I'm not in a dugout.
In two months it will be very cold, in three months it will be very cold. I don't want to think about how the army will be provided with winter uniforms and fleece jackets, because I understand and know it's bad. And it is cold. You are freezing. It is a nasty feeling, poorly familiar to city dwellers who run from warmth to warmth. At the front, you slowly but surely freeze, cooling and freezing, dreaming of at least some warmth. You lose coordination of movements, your reflexes slow down. You feel cold. It's coming soon.
We are the rear of the army. We have already purchased a hundred of these sophisticated stoves, with heat screens and shoe dryers. It's a good design, well thought out. We bought a hundred of them. We need several thousand, and then the army will be warmer.
