- I understand that statistics is an inexorable and precise science. And I understand that the more Leyland DAF trucks we have delivered to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the more likely I am to receive photos like this. There are always two questions, always in a clear sequence - what about the crew (phew, it's another one) and what about the truck (different situations).
Some were chased by an enemy tank, some came under fire, some slipped past a Grad package. Each in their own way. The consequences of these "adventures" are also different: some just need to have their wheels re-tubed and the holes from the debris sealed, while others will need to replace half of the engine. We can handle it and fix it!
But each time, immediately after telling me about the problems with the equipment, I ask a sneaky question: "Sergiy, is there any way to get a couple more machines?" And I always sigh in response. Yes, I want everything at once, a lot at once. I want to defeat this damned misfortune and stop asking you for help. But... statistics, yes.
We don't hand over vehicles on a "give and forget" basis. We then send spare parts to some, look for additional tires for others, and return some vehicles to the base on tow trucks and have them overhauled again. This is all your and our contribution to the victory. As usual, we do not have enough resources to do all this.
