Ambassador of the Community Affairs, Yuriy Biryukov, shared his impressions of the trip dedicated to the transfer of MLS Shield armored vehicles and other valuable property to the military:
"A state that could be called "devastation", but it is also a mixture of fatigue after 2 days behind the wheel and happiness from the work done. Well... and a little bit of sadness.
The MLS SHIELD armored vehicles have a very strange property - the size is not felt in the photo, the power is not felt in the photo. I'm not kidding, I felt it on my own skin at the moment of the first meeting with them at the factory. From the photos, it looks like a very large SUV. In reality, wow, what a hulk! And this was yesterday with the soldiers of the airborne battalion. Of course, I sent them photos, we discussed pages of technical documentation together, I showed them videos - all of this was there. But when these Godzillas started coming to the site... Goosebumps? Hair on end? The driver's eyes turning into saucers? I can't find the words right now, it was even cooler.
Four months and 11 days - that's exactly how long we have been working on this project from the first contact with the seller until yesterday. Hundreds of phone calls, hours of negotiations, hours of video conferences, when we were shown each car millimeter by millimeter, two months of waiting for the Italian export license, two weeks of waiting for the Polish transit license, frantic night drives of 1-2 cars from the border to Kyiv... a long and exciting project worth just under 100,000,000 hryvnias. Without half the amount from Petro Poroshenko, it is impossible. It is impossible without the other half from you. All together.
Today we are exhaling, and tomorrow... oops, tomorrow we will sign a contract for an even larger project. It is not about armored vehicles, but about other methods of destroying the occupiers. Can we handle it?"
